We also had a second 1st birthday party for Maddie to celebrate with more family and friends who lived closer to my parent’s home. I was happy that a lot of my childhood friends were able to come. Maddie was definitely excited by all the attention.
This last photo was from my friend Chhunly, of my childhood friends (who were all part of the Cambodian dance group) plus the children.
It was a little over six months ago that we celebrated Maddie’s first birthday. And I’ve only just got around to posting pictures! For party #1 which was mainly to celebrate with our family and Seattle friends, we decided to do a Super Mario Bros. themed birthday. My brother-in-law Eugene and sister-in-law Chika graciously hosted Maddie’s party since our space wouldn’t have accommodated everyone.
I did a lot of paper crafting for the party, from the banner, to cupcake toppers, to party favor boxes, and even the crowns that Maddie and I wore. To go along with the theme, we dressed up for it which made it super cute. We also hired a paper cut artist to have paper cuts made of each of our guests as a party favor to take home with them. The food was Italian inspired and I even found my old Nintendo and Super Nintendo systems to play with. Despite the rainy day, I think everyone had a great time. Thanks to our family and friends who made it out to the party. And a huge thanks to Eugene and Chika for hosting, as well as helping make a majority of the food.
Missing that warm weather and being able to cool off by the pool. Here are a few pics from a trip last year with my sister, cousin and friends in South Beach, Miami.
